60th Annual Windjammer Days

Windjammer Days Festival held annually, and the town fills up quickly for this event. Tall ships! 16 schooners attending this year for this weeklong event. Windjammers sailing into our beautiful Boothbay Harbor. Stay seven consecutive nights and your last night will be free!

2022 Season - Check the website for venues. You can't really predict what each new season of musical offerings will be. Just to name a few: traditional, pop, rock, folk, blues, jazz and many international ensembles. The cost is very modest, considering the quality of the performers. It's noteworthy that this entire year-long enterprise is comprised of a core of volunteers! Harbour Towne Inn is right across the street from this lovely building! Yes, we agree the lucky ones!!

Maine State Aquarium

Closed until 2023 for renovations. The Maine State Aquarium also exhibits a variety of sport-fish species that are of major interest to anglers. At center stage, sharks and skates circle the tank waiting to be patted by those who dare. One of our favorites and the special attraction is the 20-foot-long touch tank that houses a multitude of invertebrates.

Schooner Lazy Jack Cruises in Boothbay Harbor

The Lazy Jack was built in 1947 by builder and designer Fred Whittier in the shipyard of Whittier and Lowe in Ipswich, Massachusetts. Lazy Jack takes its lines from the traditions of the great Gloucester fishing schooners of the 1800’s. A scaled down topsail schooner, Lazy Jack is constructed from long leaf yellow pine planking over white oak frames and measures 48ft. in overall length, with a 12 ft. beam and a full keel that draws 6 ft. Under a full press, Lazy Jack carries a mainsail, foresail, staysail, jib, jib topsail and a fisherman.

The Museum in the Street

Boothbay Harbor joins 10 other Maine towns, including Wiscasset, in establishing its own Museum in the Streets (MITS). The approximately one-hour walk includes 24 informational signs around both sides of the harbor and three introductory signs with brochures at each end of the footbridge and at the municipal parking lot.
