Harbour Towne Inn is ideally situated directly on the waterfront in Boothbay Harbor, recently named one of the prettiest harbors in Maine by Down East Magazine. From our private dock and float you can watch the boats, or launch your own kayak or canoe. Our Inn is located on a beautiful tree lined street, Townsend Avenue, which leads to the center of town. Guests can walk to the popular downtown of Boothbay in just two minutes for lunch, dinner, shopping and touring. The historic Boothbay Opera House, across the street from our Inn, features entertainment, concerts, cabaret and even karaoke throughout the season.

Harbour Towne offers the best of both worlds, a quiet waterfront location with the convenience of being just steps from Boothbay Harbor’s shops, restaurants and ocean excursions departing from our Piers. You can also walk to the historic Boothbay Harbor Footbridge, a marvelous wooden pedestrian swing bridge that connects the east and west shores of the harbor along a picturesque walkway.

Boothbay Harbor is ideal for several days of exploration; this seaside town is famous for its boating history, known as the “Boating Capital of New England”. You can walk to town and board a Windjammer, like Eastwind, for a day of sailing the Atlantic aboard an historic schooner. Venture out on a scenic Lobster Boat harbor tour or a fishing charter from our in town docks. Seal and Puffin watching cruises to outer islands, and Capt’n Fish’s whale watch trips all depart from Boothbay Harbor’s Piers.

From picturesque Boothbay Harbor you can spot seven of Maine’s 70 lighthouses, a scenic boat ride at sunrise or sunset is a smart way to see these famous Maine lighthouses. The Pink Lady is a popular cruise boat that offers scenic harbor tours, sunset cruises, and even reggae dance cruises departing from Boothbay’s docks.

One of the most famous, most photographed churches in Maine, Our Lady Queen of Peace can be seen from our Inn, you will hear the church bells and can easily walk to this revered Catholic Church.

Boothbay Harbor is rich in history and abundant in its seaside shops, restaurants and waterfront bars and clam shacks. Guests of the Harbour Town Inn enjoy simply walking the quaint village streets to find art boutiques, Maine craft shops, jewelry and old fashioned General Stores. Kids will enjoy the salt water taffy at the local candy shop and ice cream stands. Boothbay has a truly one of a kind waterfront bowling alley that you just have to “sea” to believe.

Walking or riding a bike is a great way to explore the pretty New England town and hidden coves of Boothbay. Wherever you go in the town, you will likely be greeted by friendly Down East folk. You will see why Boothbay Harbour is called the “Soul of the Maine Coast.”

Summer is the most popular time in Boothbay Harbor for its warm days and cool evenings, but spring is a splendid time of year as trees bud with bright green promise, and flowers dot the seaside homes and streets. Fall is famous in Maine, and as the foliage turns red, yellow and orange along our village streets against the backdrop of blue waterfront, photographers have their field day. Winter is quiet, peaceful and pleasant, as the ocean provides ambient temperature and our fireplace at the Harbour Towne Inn provides warmth and a wonderful place to rest and reflect.

All year round Boothbay Harbor is host to festivals like Fisherman’s Festival, Windjammer Days, Harbor Arts and Crafts Shows, Boat Builder Festivals, Airplane and Car Shows, and of course, Blueberry Festivals and traditional Maine Fish Suppers.

From the Harbour Towne Inn, there are countless day trips to explore the Mid Coast of Maine, visit nearby coastal towns and gems like the Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens.
