Harbor Fest Returns to Boothbay with Ten Days of Festivities!!!


BOOTHBAY HARBOR, Maine—The 4th Annual Harbor Fest kicks off on Labor Day Weekend with a ten-day celebration of music, food, fashion, art & healthy living events. The festival takes place in a variety of locations on the Boothbay peninsula, featuring more than 100 Maine businesses, organizations and individuals. Major events include:

  • A Taste of Local Flavor and Live Music Marathon: 9/4-9/6: a ten dollar passport includes food tastings at 15 local establishments and live music around town. Festivities kick off on Friday afternoon with the Harbor Crawl, sponsored by 92 Moose Radio and the Rocktide Inn Trolley.


  • Weekend festivities also include a band competition sponsored by WCLZ and Music from 207 Host Aimsel Ponti as the official Judge, and a Cocktail Competition sponsored by Cold River Blueberry Vodka. The weekend closes with the internationally acclaimed HillBenders, appearing at the Boothbay Opera House, presenting the Who’s “Tommy –A Bluegrass Opry”.


  • 5k & Half Marathon: 9/6: Races start and finish at the Watershed Tavern, 301 Adams Pond Road, Boothbay. Both courses offer scenic views and a pleasant challenge. The event will feature healthy living vendors and activities before and during the race and a post race awards ceremony. The Watershed Tavern menu will be available, including Harbor Fest Ale on tap. Race to benefit the Boothbay Region and Central Lincoln County YMCA collaborative Children’s Diabetes Prevention Program.


  • Restaurant Theme Week: 9/7-9/11: Local restaurants step up their entertainment game adding a side of fun to their delicious menus. Caribbean, Luau, Great Gastby, Board Game, Back to School, Tapas, Cowboys and Cowgirls… a little taste of every type of delicious fun.
  • A Stroke of Art: 9/7-9/13: A first annual at Harbor Fest, ASOA will feature 7 days of show stopping events. This Plein Air Invitational will welcome artists from around the globe to paint the Boothbay peninsula. The ASOA ‘Base Camp’, sponsored by Harborfields Waterfront Cottages, 24 McKown Point Road, West Boothbay Harbor, will feature a ‘wet wall’ of artwork in their historic boathouse for public viewing throughout the week. Daily art shows will be open to the public at various locations to include: Andrews’ Harborside Restaurant, Spruce Point Inn, Boothbay Farmers Market and Rocktide Inn.


  • The two featured events will take place under a waterfront tent at Harborfields: Art, Ales & Eats: 9/11, 3p-6p, featuring ASOA originals, Boothbay Craft Brewery Harbor Fest Ale and Watershed Tavern Eats. Meet the Artist Brunch: 9/13, 9a-11a, featuring ASOA originals, a Mine Oyster catered brunch and Bloody Mary bar and music by the Downeast Soul Coalition. The Harbor Fest Closing Ceremonies will immediately follow this event featuring great friends, amazing views and the 2015 Harbor Fest Award Winners.


  • Fishin’ For Fashion: 9/12, 2p-4p: This one of a kind Fashion Show features original designs made from the fishing industry, the creative flare of local shops, fine food, Harbor Fest ale, a waterfront deck and models arriving by lobster boat. Proceeds benefit local student aid fund. $25.pp Rocktide Inn, 35 Atlantic Avenue, BBH.

A variety of additional events will take place throughout the week to include: a carnival and pancake breakfast hosted by local students, a treasure hunt and art show at the Waterfront Whale Park, haunted history tours, a farmer’s market and several live music acts to include: the Underscore Orkestra, based out of Portland, Oregon (Mine Oyster, 9/11) and the Sultans of String, based out of Toronto, Ontario (Opera House at Boothbay Harbor 9/12).

September 2015 Harbor Fest ends with many new Beginnings
Boothbay Harbor, ME:

The 2015 Harbor Fest officially ended this past Sunday afternoon, following 10 days of successful events that spanned across most of the Boothbay peninsula. Food, music, art, fashion and wellness were the main ingredients that brought hundreds of businesses and thousands of people together, providing a substantial post-summer boost to the local economy. A festival wrap up meeting is being planned and will be announced in the coming days. All community members are invited and encouraged to attend. Congratulations to our winners:

In addition to the Peoples Choice awards, all 15 venues were featured as part of a local chef showcase conducted by Author and Cooking Show Host, Jim Bailey (The Yankee Chef) and all 30 bands were part of a local music showcase conducted by WCLZ radio host, Aimsel Ponti.
5k & Half Marathon: Race results were announced last week and a complete list can be found at boothbayharborfest.com. Proceeds benefited the BRYMCA and CLCYMCA collaborative programs and final results are still being tallied. A special thank you to the Boothbay Fire Department, Towns of Boothbay and Boothbay Harbor, Boothbay Craft Brewery, and the BRYMCA and CLCYMCA staff for making this event a great success. More than 80% of race registrants were from out of state and about half were first time visitors.
BRES 8th grade class: As submitted by event organizer Judy Dorr, ‘our event raised $585 between the breakfast and carnival. We would like to thank Compass Rose Events, Kaler's Restaurant and Sam Kaler, Jackie Marquis and Sea-Vu Farm, The Lady in the Red Cloak, Laura Francis, Lisa Orne Hallinan, Darlene French, Mark Tess, Rep. Stephanie Hawk, Splash Into Science Students & Parents, Harbor Fest and all who attended the breakfast, carnival or donated to the event. The 50/50 raffle raised $1,500 and the winner (a young teen) generously donated back their half to the kids' trip. What a special person!’
The First Annual Stroke of Art was an enormous success, bringing dozens of artists and collectors to our region for the first time. The weeklong event is unique to Maine and a tremendous new asset to our region. Harbor Fest wishes to extend a very special thank you to event founder Mary Phelps of COCO VIVO Artful Living, who donated countless hours over several months to turn her artistic vision into a reality that will benefit our community for years to come. And a very special Thank you to Harborfields Waterfront Cottages, who generously hosted artists and art receptions throughout the week. Thank you to our juror Carleton Plummer of East Boothbay, ME. In addition, Harbor Fest will make the following donations to support our local youth and community: $750 to the local Student Aid Fund, $250 to the Junior Class and $500 to the Track fund.
